Many in history have sought renewal in the desert. After a dreary, wet winter, I needed the sun, the landscapes, the beautiful birds and other natural wonders of the American southwest. Outside the village of Tubac in Arizona is a clearing along the Santa Cruz River that was the first stop in my Arizona wildlife tour. I was rewarded almost right away with a sighting of this Dusky-capped Flycatcher. It was a life bird for me, but a fairly common one in the southwest and Latin America.
